Receipt Stories
BookXcess
Receipt Stories is a social experiment conducted by BookXcess, an independent remainder bookstore that would like to cultivate the habit of reading in Malaysia. Books are generally expensive in the country, thus founding a bookstore that sells books at a cheaper rate has already won the hearts of many bookworms in the country. Launching this project was rather appropriate and in line with the company's main beliefs.

In order to do so, what seem to be a rather simple 100 word story contest took off like wild fire once we have added a social and fame idea in the mechanics. The possibility of being a published writer for many has been a driving factor behind the pull.

Soon, The Receipt stories project garners more than 800 stories a month all generated by eager wanna be writers and visited thousands of times over by people who just love to read. It reached nationwide coverage as the national dailies and radio stations started to broadcast BookXcess "Read. Write. Share." initiative.
